An Ethiopian Jewish family went to buy an apartment in a certain complex in Kiryat Malachi. While they were there they found out that the owner of the apartment, actually all the owners of apartments in the complex, had signed an agreement to not sell their properties to Ethiopian Jews.
From a JPost article on the protests:
“Twenty-one year old Oshrat Masala, a local Ethiopian resident who joined the protest at the apartment buildings that would not rent or sell to Ethiopians, arrived with her face painted a ghostly white.
‘Maybe now I will be able to get an apartment here,’ she said.”
Seriously? As if it isn’t difficult enough being part of 0.2% of the global population wasn’t difficult enough, now we’re turning on our own kind? Is this real life? Discrimination in general is terrible, but if anything could be worse, this would be it.
